Bob Belcher - Pattern details

Materials:
  • Doll Base Pattern
  • 4mm (G) hook
  • Yarn:
    • Beige (Skin)
    • White (Shirt + Apron)
    • Grey (Pants)
  • Black Felt
  • Felting Needle
  • Black Thread (Arm/Chest Hair)

Terms:
  • Stitch (st)
  • Chain (ch)
  • Single Crochet (sc)
  • Increase (inc)
  • Decrease (dec)
  • Half-Double Crochet (hdc)
  • Double Crochet (dc)
  • Fasten Off (FO)
  • Repeat steps within Asterisks (repeat (**) around)



Following along with Doll Base Pattern

Body:
Work in beige up to Round 22
Switch to white (shirt)
Work Round 23-32
Switch to Grey (pants)
Work Round 33-43,
FO, Weave in ends

Arms:
-Make 2-
In beige
1.  Work 6 sc into a magic circle (6)
2 . Sc around
3-7. Sc around (6)
*switch to White*
8. Sc around (6)
FO, leave long tail for sewing

Attach between rows 23-24

Apron:
With white:
1.  Ch 5, sc in 2nd chain and across (4sc)
2.  Sc across (4)
3.  Sc across (4)
4.  Inc, sc 2, inc (6)
5.  Inc, sc 4, inc (8)
6-11. Sc across (8)

Add sc border
Add straps (I attached yarn at the top corner of apron and chained about 15 and attached to the other corner around Bobs neck)

Details:
Bob has a known bald spot that the top layer of his hair badly covers, so I used the black felt around the base of his head, made a small circle right at the crown of his head for his smaller bald spot and left the top of his head bald. I attached a light layer of felt on the left side of his face, laying overtop of his “bald spot” and lightly felted it in just to hold it down but still appear “whispy”. I used scissors to create the points he has in his hair.
His mustache was made using the same felting technique, giving it a bit of shape rather than
making it super bushy. I added small whips of black felt where his shirt and neck meet to resemble chest hair and added a few more whips on his arms to give him some of that thick arm hair we know so well.
