You Seem in Need of Aid

Where are my Overwatch fans?

I started as a d.Va main and slowly became obsessed with the game, playing every chance I could get. It wasn't until after this project was commissioned that I took a liking to Moira. Staring at her for endless hours a day while putting her together will have that affect on you. 

The person that commissioned her was.. slightly vague on the details, which is a blessing and a curse. They insisted I use my personal style (blessing) and that they had no preference on the details (curse). I did a few sketches but.. let's be real.. I don't f'n sketch. Most of this project was just wingin' it and I didn't write a damn thing down... 

I started with a Chibi Doll Base Pattern by Sylemn found on Etsy. It was absolutely worth paying for conisdering I will likely continue to make these sized commissions. I adore the Chibi style and you can make almost any menacing person/creature look cute if you make a Chibi version of it. 

Moira was actually pretty simple to make apart from her hair. TOTAL NIGHTMARE. I ripped it out 3x before I settled for her current hair out of pure frustration. Her outfit is all black, which made adding the small details of her coat and sleeves a breeze. 

The eyes were made from a Pattern by HodgePodge Crochet and were actually really easy to customize. The silver half/mask she wears over her red eye was made with some light grey felt and stitched on, as I do with most of my felted details. My favorite part was her Orbs. I took two small styrofoam balls and wrapped them in the appropriate colored yarn and VOILA!  Little yarn ball orbs!

Sylemn also has a Slender Doll Base Pattern if you're interested in making a more realistic type doll/figure. I am eagerly awaiting a reason to use it myself!
