Notes:

Kirby is worked in continuous rounds. You’ll need to know the “magic circle” starting technique. Mark the first stitch of each round with your stitch marker. Arms and feet are made separately and sewn on. Face, mouth, and cheeks are needle felted onto a completed body. 

Pattern:

Body

1. Work 8 sc into a magic circle (8sc)
2. Inc in each st around (16sc)
3. *Sc 1, inc* repeat ** around *(24sc)
4. Sc in each st around (24sc)
5. *Sc 2, inc* repeat ** around (32sc)
6. *Sc 3, inc* repeat ** around (40sc)

7 - 14. Sc in each st around (40sc)
    15.   *Sc 3, dec* repeat ** around (32sc)
    16.  *Sc 3, dec* repeat ** around (24sc)
    17.  Sc in each st around (24sc)
    18.  *Sc 1, dec* repeat ** around (16sc)
           **fill your Kirby with polyfiber**
    19.  Dec around (8sc)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Using your tapestry needle, weave the tail of the yarn through the front loop of each remaining stitch and pull it tightly closed. 


Arms (make 2)

1. Work 5 sc into a magic circle (5sc)
2. *Sc 1, inc* repeat ** around (7sc)
3. Sc around (7sc)
4. Sc around (7sc)

Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing onto body


Feet (make 2)

1. Work 6 sc into a magic circle (6sc)
2. *Sc 1, inc* repeat ** around (9sc)
3. Sc in each st around (9sc)
4. *Sc 2, inc* repeat ** around (12sc)

5 - 10. Sc in each st around (12sc)
     11.   *Sc 2, dec* repeat ** around (9sc)
            *stuff foot with polyfil*
     12.   Dec around 

Fasten off leaving a long tail. Using your tapestry needle, weave the tail of your yarn through the front loops of each remaining stitch and pull it tightly closed.

Assembly:

Kirby has many expressive action poses that you can sew your arms into! I chose to keep them on his side and sewn them on between rows 7-12.
His feet can be sewn directly on his bottom to give him the ability to stand, or can be sewn slightly forward to help him balance in a sitting position
His facial details are up to you to perfect. Here’s how I did it:

1. Make his eyeball and mouth shapes out of black felt
2. Layer the blue and white felt over-top of the black for his eyes
3. Layer the red and pink felt over-top of the black for his mouth
4. Use a small bit of pink for the blush on his cheeks (optional)
