Welcome To The Skeleton War

Baby season is upon us!
As you all have seen throughout my blog, I seriously love making baby gear. I've been wanting to experiment with baby blankets and getting invited to my first baby shower as an adult (I know.. I'm pathetic...) was the perfect excuse to try it out.

I fell deeply in love with the chevron pattern and have since then started making 3 blankets, including the one pictured.. in June.. during the hottest part of the year..

The darling who's having the Mini had a Skeletor themed party.. which I thought was pretty fantastic seeing how I grew up in the 90's with that awesome skeleton.
The hardest part of this particular project was trying to figure out the length and width of the blanket. This was a "stroller blanket" and was to measure 30 inches x 36 inches. Now.. that's pretty damn big for a stroller blanket.. It turned out the size of the perfect lap blanket for an adult so.. guess who's gonna start making those? ;)

Overall, the chevron pattern is, by far, the most fun pattern I've had the pleasure of doing. It's so incredibly simple and pretty versatile. Every pattern I found was a little different so I kind of took a little from each one. This one is worked in the Back Loops Only and it gives it a perfect "ribbed" look. The mama-to-be was ecstatic over having a hand-made keepsake for her little skeleton soldier.

If you're looking for the perfect shower gift for an expecting beauty, fill out the contact form or email me at info@gnarlea.com and I'd be happy to customize each blanket to be a  perfect fit for a shower theme or nursery!
