gotta catch 'em all

Picture
Materials:

  • 4mm Hook
  • Red, Black, and White Yarn (Premier Everyday)
  • Polyfiber Filling
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Stitch Marker

Key Terms:
  • Single Crochet (sc)
  • Double Crochet (dc)
  • Half-Double Crochet (hdc)
  • Increase (inc)
  • Decrease (dec)
  • Stitch (st)

Notes:

Pattern is worked in continuous round. Finished Pokeball will be about 4” in diameter, but can be made a bit bigger by simply stuffing it more. The Button is made in 2 separate pieces, sewn together, and then stitched on to the pokeball. I like to put the buttons over my color changes so it hides that jagged look a bit.

Pattern:

Body

Starting with Red:
  1. Work 8 sc into a magic circle (8sc)
  2. 2sc in each st around (16sc)
  3. *1sc, inc* repeat around (24sc)
  4. Sc around (24sc)
  5. *2sc, inc* repeat around (32sc)
  6. *3sc, inc* repeat around (40sc)
7-10.  Sc around (40sc)
          *switch to black*
    11. Hdc around (40hdc)
          *switch to white*
12-15. Sc around (40sc)
     16. *3sc, dec* repeat around (32sc)
     17. *2sc, dec* repeat around (24sc)
     18. Sc around (24sc)
     19. *1sc, dec* repeat around (16sc)
           *stuff pokeball to desired size*

   20. Dec around, fasten off (8sc)

Using your tapestry needle, weave the tail through the front loops of the remaining 8 stitches and pull closed, weave in the remaining tail.

Button:

In black:
Create a magic circle, chain 2, work 9 dc, join at first dc and fasten off leaving a long tail

In white:
Create a magic circle, chain 1, work 9 hdc, join at first hdc and fasten off leaving a long tail

Assembly:
Stitch white button onto black button, then stitch the pair onto the Pokeball. (see notes)
